In class today we used the website gimp.org. GNU Image Manipulation Program, (GMP), is a robust and free image editor that caters to a variety of users all the way from graphic designers to photographers. It is available over many platforms including GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows. One of GIMP’s greatest strengths is its extensibility and flexibility, which allow for a high degree of customization through third party plugins and scripts. Because of this, it makes a very valuable tool for image manipulation tasks, as well as a component in desktop publishing workflows, along side other free software like Scribus and Inkscape.

We used this is class by finding a portrait photo and messing around with different features manipulating the photo. Whether you’re looking to perform high-quality photo manipulations, create original artwork, or design graphical elements, GIMP offeres a comprehensive set of tools to fulfill these creative demands. It supports various programming languages for scripted image manipulation, enhancing its utility for developers as well.
